Why some teachers get angry with their students
A teacher is someone whose job is to teach in a school or college. This is a dictionary's definition of the word. Yet, if you asked different people who they think a teacher is, a multiplicity of answers will accumulate. Yes indeed. Because every single individual looks at a teacher from his own view of the person who can assume the responsibility of teaching others.
A teacher, one might define, is a person trained and qualified to perform a job of instruction. To this end, a teacher is no better than a TV of radio station which broadcasts informative materials so that anybody can get to know what they broadcast. No. A teacher is the person who works in a school and takes part in different school activities, including teaching. This way, a teacher is no more than an honest employee who fulfils the duties assigned to him. That's not it. A teacher is the one responsible for training learners in a particular branch of knowledge. Training. Yes. That's the word.
So a teacher is a trainer. A trainer is a person with special knowledge and skill in a particular field. Knowledge combined with skill enable him/her to perform his job the best way.
My own realisation of the word teacher is that it applies to a person, be it man or woman, who has received special education and training in a particular subject so as to be ready and capable of assuming the responsibility of teaching. S/he then interacts with the people s/he teaches in order to achieve certain goals. This interaction necessitates that a teacher tailor his teaching to the needs and capabilities of his/her students. However, interaction must not be taken as questions on the part of the teacher and answers on the part of the learner/student. Teachers now must perceive that they are no longer to practice mastership. They have to modify their perception of their role to allow tolerance, coordinating, facilitating, advising and tutoring.
A student is someone who learns at a university or college, or sometimes at a school. What is expected from a student? In other words, how is a student expected to work and behave?
As someone who wants to learn; that is, it's his own wish to come to school, for example, to learn, a student should be obedient to his teachers. By obedience I mean the productive behaviour of doing assignments and activities as assigned by teachers. Then comes the quality of being polite when interacting with teachers. A student may disagree with his/her teacher. S/he may even not accept what one particular teacher says. Yet, this should, under no circumstances, allow impoliteness. Other qualities, I regard, are to enter the circle of personal differences. For example, students are not equally hard-working. Study skills also differ from one individual student to another. Yet, there is a vacuum that both teachers and students have to fill for the sake of the fruitfulness of the process of education and the avoidance of any sort of anger.
Students meet with their teachers in schools and colleges. Before coming to college, for instance, students must prepare themselves for meeting with teachers and learning from them. Preparation, in my opinion, is a bundle of qualities and activities. In addition to reading and underlining, students should come to class ready to speak and discuss what will be mentioned. They should be tactful, especially with their teachers. They must know how to ask. They must choose the time when to ask/speak and when to remain silent. Furthermore and above all, they must be devoted to what they do.
Teachers, on their part, may find it better if they allowed disagreement. Moreover, it would be advantageous, I hypothesize, if teachers discuss their schedules and procedures with their students.
Finally, I should like to conclude with these quotes:
"A teacher is someone who takes your hand, opens your mind, and touches your heart."

"Teachers cannot live on apples alone."

"Many can teach; only a special few can reach."

"What we learn with pleasure we never forget."
